ABC has picked up the first broadcast rights to Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” set to hit tv’s beginning in 2012. The film just finished a record-setting $210 worldwide three-day opening and it is certainly the talk of the town. ABC Cable Network’s Grou’s executive vice president of program acquisitions & scheduling said, “Alice’s” “captivating sense of fun and imaginative spirit” make it “a perfect fit our Millennial viewers.”

The word is that ABC Family will pay at least $20 million for the broadcast rights from the Walt Disney Co. Starz has already lined up a deal with Disney for the pay cable rights to the film.
